Interesting purchase today. Two, sealed mint bags with $60 face value of 1-cent coins. Both bags have '1967' on the tags. One, sealed mint bag with $300 face value of 5-cent coins, also with '1967' on the tag. Should keep me very busy this winter, searching for gem grades and errors... lots of rock doves and hares!!
Wow, dwhiz => hey, I don't collect too many moderns, but that set kicks arse!! Awesome!! (congrats) ... yup, I'm especially lovin' those sweet animal coins!! (great set)
1968 25c and 10c coins from Canada are only .500 silver... so you are still ok, if you did not have to pay postage.
That's a very sweet lookin' fifty, my friend!! (ya gotta love the Newfie coins, eh?) ... ummm, so that's probably a $1000-ish coin, right? (a mere 32,000 coins minted and they're now 140 years old!!) ... NOTE => if that was a Yankee coin, it'd be worth $50,000 bucks!! (yup, the Newfie coins are definitely a bargain!! => maybe one day they'll finally get some respect and their prices will sky-rocket?!!) ... fantastic coin!!
Thanks Steve, it caught my eye...ICCS graded VF20 though, unless folks start to love the Newfies a bargain it will continue to be...
This is exonumia, but Canadian... it is one of those "rolled coins", but this was done in 1911, and the victim coin of the rolling was an Edward VII large cent. The coin must have been AU (or better) at the time. The old obverse was remarkably preserved.
Two more Eddie 50 Cents to finish out the year's acquisitions (that's what my budget is telling me anyway) 1902 Canada 50 Cent, mintage of 120,000; ICCS VF20 (think they were a little tough on it) & 1909 Canada 50 Cent, mintage of 203,118; PCGS VF35 (think they were very generous on it)
