Tough love. You paid too much unless you consider the Tacitus worth $90 and the Probus $10. The Tacitus is a very nice example so you may be close. Probus eagles are common so you can hold out for a smooth one. Mine is a different year and not great but I bought it for $7 a long time ago when I was young and foolish.
Thanks for the tough-love, Doug ... I always love hearin' the truth from Mr Miyagi!! Oh, you may not have re-read my thread-update, but Batman only charged my $85 (delivered) for the two new sweeties (so, I must be very close to being at "atta-boy"?) $15 - Probus $70 - Tacitus => cha-chinnggg!! Again, thanks for responding => I always get all giddy when you comment on my stuff (good, or bad) ... awesome, thanks!!

Martin => ridiculously super-coins, as always (please keep 'em comin' ... I never get tired of your "stuff")
All soooo much better than the new one. Perhaps I have an attitude about the eagles because I have too many but after you get as many tets as you have, it is increasingly hard to find ones you don't have so you start looking for other features. I have a snipe set on a tet because I liked the look on the face of the emperor's portrait. I have a antoninianus enroute that I paid more than I would have for most for that same reason. Neither are Probus. Most Probus Alexandria faces are a bit 'ordinary' in my opinion. Martin's year three Nike is better than most. Whatever the coin, rarity makes us more interested. Were Falling Horsemen rare, the type would not be the laughing stock it seems to be with so many of you. Were EID MAR denarii common, we might point out the fact that the artwork is something you could draw. There are some well done Eagles but I prefer pretty much anything from Alexandria that is not a standing figure or a bird.
Doug => I always enjoy your writing, but I didn't quite understand which coin and/or which coin-comrade you were aiming at? ... ummm, being vain, I assumed that you were referring to "my" Probus/Diocletian Eagle? (but I may be incorrect?) ... ummm, so I am assuming that even at $15, you are not liking my new Probus/Diocletian coin? (man, that's cold) ... ahaha => just jokes ....... I almost like it more when you chuck-crap at my coins, for then I get to bring it up in our future coin-intereactions (thanks for your coin-time, my friend ... I always appreciate it, seriously!!)
Great coin, randygeki => thanks for posting Hey???? => now I'm curious??? => ummm, I haven't seen a single Alexandrian Tacitus TET (what gives??) => please dig-deep and post your Alexandrian Tacitus TETS, otherwise I'm gonna start thinking that today's purchase was even fricken sweeter than I thought!!
Steve, overall you have some of the nicest and most carefully selected coins posted here (except for maridvnvm's , of course). All I was saying is that the Probus eagle was not up to the Steve standards. The Tacitus was. I don't have a Tacitus. If I did, it would not be that nice. My best tets are ladies: Yes I know the Severina is an eagle but it is also a ETOYC Z. Why would that mean anything to me? Anyone? Please show your Aurelian year 7 coins. They exist.

=> of course Thanks for the compliment, Doug (everybody knows that your coins are the real-deal and the best part about your coins is the interesting coin info/tales that comes with them!!) Great coins, fellas .... oh and Martin, thanks for posting your Tacitus TET (I was beginning to think that I had the only example!!) ... please keep 'em coming, gang!!
