A true Mainer. I tell every girl I know who is dating, "If he can't use a chainsaw, he's not even in the running."

Well, I finally broke down and bought a CAC Morgan. It is technically out of my price range, but my mother and mother-in-law both chipped in some money for Christmas:

I really like the heavy die striations (yes, I realize this is a strange thing to like).

The coin was described as having a "puffy cheek", and I have read that about other coins but I guess I don't know what that means other than maybe cottony white and slightly contrasting with the fields.

This is going to be my "blazer / brilliant" example, and someday I want to own a nice toned example as well.

Pretty much any coin I have shown on these boards has had (or has later obtained) a CAC sticker.

Not sure what the "oops" is for, post some of those gorgeous coins! If you take requests, I would love to see a CAC approved all time favorite Barber quarter you own or have owned.

As a rule, I don't post coins that I no longer own and the reason for that is simply because now someone else owns them and they might not want the coin to have additional exposure. Below are my favorite MS Barber quarter and MS Barber half dollar.

    Stunning!

My next target is a nice CAC F12 to AU Barber Quarter, but they seem to always go for 50%+ more than Numismedia pricing and even recent Ha.com auction records would suggest. I guess nice Barber quarters are in short supply on the low end of the $$$ spectrum.

It depends upon the Barber quarter. As you travel down the grading spectrum and look at more common coins, you will find that price guides are typically more accurate. However, as you get into less frequently traded issues then you will often find that price guides are less accurate.

By the way, the reverse of the Barber half dollar I posted is what I use as my avatar here, although I have it rotated about 15-degrees when used as my avatar, on my website and on my business cards.

I don't have all that many you don't see them that often on the early stuff I love and so much early stuff has problems both mint related (poor strikes planchet quality) or post mint me I buy the coin and I'm happy with them as they are so I've never sent one for a bean is why most of mine are on Morgan's

That 1900-S Barber dime is gorgeous and it looks like the 1938-D Buffalo has wonderful swirls of golden and perhaps light blue toning mixed together. I like the group.
