    Hello Everyone!

First let me say I hope everyone is having a great holiday season and thank you all in advance for any help you can send my way. I have an idea for a collection that I think that could be pretty cool. My thought is to attempt to collect a "type" collection of US coins that have a nautical theme. After looking threw my blue book I see that their are a boat load of coins that fall in this category, and some of them are very expensive. If I could pull this off I would like to put them in a really nice frame with a painting, or picutre to go with them. This leads me to my question. If I bought all raw or PCGS graded. Would PCGS do something like this? If Yes do you all think this is a bad idea? It would look amazing in my office, but i'm just wondering if it would hurt resale value in the future, or are their any other risk i'm not thinking about. Have other people done things like this?

    Thank Y'all !

I'm afraid I don't quite follow you. Yes, PCGS will grade any US coin, so I don't know how a nautical theme might restrict your goal. Are you referring to the possibility of starting a PCGS registry set? If so, you would have to contact PCGS about that possibility.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking either. As Chris said, if it's getting the coins graded, that's pretty easy. If you're wondering if PCGS will grade the coins and then put the coins in a frame for you, I don't see that happening. If I were you, I think I would buy the coins ungraded and put them in a few Air-Tites. From there, I would buy the matting/framing and put it together myself. If you don't trust yourself to display it properly, find a good professional framer. They can generally make it look good. I did something similar in a shadowbox with my military memorabilia, and it displays well.

I don't think that NGC does multi-coin slabbing anymore. I inquired with them about getting some Korean coins from mint sets slabbed in one of these, and they replied that they don't "multi-slab" anymore, but that they COULD make sure that the serial numbers for the coins from my mint sets would be consecutive.

Maybe they still do it for US coins?
