I like that 1809 best. Quite an appealing coin for the grade.

Agreed it can be hard to find nice problem free examples of well circulated coins especially early ones I'd be proud to own it

Sorry, but I don't own it. It is a friend of ours and she knows nothing about coins. Interesting story. Her father got these from some gypsies because he was the only one who would bother with them. They developed whooping cough and he went to treat them. When it was over, they took a collection for him including these and a couple more I will post later.

Agree with the '09 at VG and the '31 at F. Reverse of the '31 is a very weak strike, by the looks of it. I have a '31 BH that has the same weak reverse (although mine also suffers from terrible PVC damage).

BYW, that 1809 looks to be the ||||| variety.

For a minute there I was kind of surprised because I thought you were expanding your collecting interest Dick.

No one know Overton numbers any more?

I'm sure there are those who do Dick, but I don't think they realized that that is what you were asking for.

I'd be happy to change the titles of these two threads for you to reflect that if you like.

There doesn't seem to be anything else special about them (which I suspected) so I guess you had better change the titles.

    The 1809 looks like an O-109 or O-109a - I am going with O-109a

Going with O-108 for 1831. Someone should double check me.
