when trying to find prices on silver dollars that have had the gold trim put on them ,what are they called or what should i look under?
They may be, but they are still a novelty item, worth only the bullion value of their silver content. The post-mint gold application is so infinitesimal that it adds absolutely nothing to the value, and from a numismatic standpoint they coins are damaged.
I'd call em ruined and their only value to me would be in silver. The gold is probably 1/2 a cent's worth
Good link for silver coin values http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html A 90% silver dollar coin (1935-older) is worth $9.65 with silver at $12.48/oz
poggie, welcome, and I am going to make a bet that they are gold plated Ikes. What are the dates on the coins?
Sounds like he may be describing the 'gold highlighted' silver eagles that one sometimes sees on eBay, which also are formally "one dollar" face value... attached is an image of one.
yes sir they are like that but are dated in the early to mid 20s won on coin boards a few years back this doesnt hurt the silver value dues it,i know it does not raise coin value, thank you for your help.
poggie: If they look like that in the 1920's then they are half dollars. You really should try to post a photo.
Yes, they did mint Peace dollars in the 1920's, but AG Collector posted a photo of a US American Eagle, which replicated the design on the Walking Liberty half dollar.
sorry,i ment the gold color is as shown but they are peace dollars,i know they were not minted that way but it would not hurt silver price would it?
Silver is worth its weight in silver. Regardless of what may have been done to damage or ruin the coin, and its numismatic value.
