I was digging through some spare change at my house and i found a dime. it looked strange so I looked it up Apparently these are really rare and expensive? Is it the right coin? I'm not sure so pls help http://i.imgur.com/9IFI9UT.jpg
Unless it's a proof missing the "s" mintmark, it is normal. I doesn't look like it was a proof to me. Value = 10 cents.
Yes, they are rare and valuable, if they are proof! I doubt very much that yours is nothing more than a Philadelphia mint coin meant for circulation.
k so i researched a bit more and realized that my precious coin is worth 0.10 cents because it's probably a Philly coin or whatever lol i'm sorry
I found another one made in 1967. these lil coins are still cool so I'm still keeping thanks to those who replied
No need to be sorry. You can't learn if you don't ask. You came to the right place. There are many here that will share their knowledge. Keep asking, someone here will have an answer, and someday, you'll have answers for others.
Since Philadelphia was the main mint they didn't use a MM . I think starting in 1979 for dollars and 1980 for all coins they started using the P for the Phili mint . The only coins that I can think of that did have a P before those dates were the war nickels which had a large P , D and S above the dome to denote that they were 35%silver .
