Where can you get rolls of large dollar coins like Ikes? I've heard of peace dollars being found in these rolls. Can large banks like BOA get them?
I'd say if you went around to 100 banks, maybe one would have a roll of Ike's. From there I would say you have a 1000 to 1 shot of there being a peace dollar in said roll.
I work as a teller for one of those large banks, and they unfortunately cannot be ordered. I've read stories of people who are able to get them by the bag from banks, but I am skeptical of those. Consider this: They can't be ordered from the Fed (says so on their website), since they are no longer minted. They only way banks would have them in bag or box quantity would be from other banks that have turned them in. But in my own experience we would never even think about having enough to ship out with the armored service, because pretty much as soon as an Ike comes in from a customer, someone else (usually moi!) asks for it.
Coin shows, B&M stores, etc. Banks, meh! Only if you ask them to hold out Ikes customers might bring in.
