I don't collect Romans, but do have a mini collection of certain coins. Here is a new addition to my "art deco" collection. Maximinus II
    As Caesar
    305-308 AD
    Alexandria Mint

Its about 26mm. I just liked the style. Max_Obv.jpg Max_Rev.jpg

Lovely coin. Funny thing is I find these coins as boring as watching football.

BTW yours is him as Augustus, note mine has Caes. at the end, yours does not.

My example with snot dripping from the nose.

Thanks Mat. I was just reading from the flip. I don't especially like these except for the pieces stylized like mine. There are tons of more lifelike ones, but I like the ones that look like they were drawn in 1932.

Ummm, whoa dude ... I'll definitely pretend that you didn't actually write that!!

    ... anyway ...

Medoraman => wow, that's an outstanding coin!! (I agree that it has a very cool design/look ... super neat)

    Here is my humble example:

    Maximinus II AE Follis
    Date: 308 AD
    Diameter: 24.3 mm
    Weight: 8.2 grams
Obverse: GAL VAL MAXIMINVS NOB CAES - Laureate bust of Maximinus II
Reverse: VIRTVS EXERCITVS - Mars in military dress, holding transverse spear, shield and trophy over shoulder. X in l. field, B/K in right field
    References: RIC 83

I don't have alot of Tetrarchic period coins, but I like how you can get really nice sharp examples for not alot of dough.

I mean, look at the abs on that genius of the OP coin. Mine is a reduced follis, unfortunately with a flat area of strike on the reverse where the aforementioned abs ought to be.

Nothing humble about your as all Steve. I bet most would say its superlative to mine. My purchase was just part of a silly artistic style mini collection I have. The reverse is doublestruck, but I bought it mainly for the obverse style.

i think that a great coin...super art, great detials...looks like some neato double striking on the reverse. awesome.

it does remind of that art deco style doesn't it?
