I found this quarter and by grading via ICCS it has been deemed as "cleaned." I think I can kind of tell when a coin has been cleaned but...I guess not. Does anyone mind explaining to me how you go about determining if a coin is cleaned - and especially with this example... Check out the pics
All I see are numerous contact marks and scratches, not indicative to a cleaning. ICCS? Never heard of them? Anywho, the luster will be very dull and there may be present marks that would be made from using a brush to remove any dirt or debris, that would indicate the coin was cleaned.
Doesn't appear to be abrasively cleaned. That would indicate to me that ICCS found evidence of the coin being dipped.
I can't see telltale cleaning lines either; however, if you tilt it at an angle, you might be able to see them.
Ok... now THAT is funny.... There is a reason why the finest collections of Canadian coins reside in PCGS holders, and not ICCS holders... ICCS is closer to ANACS, but at times, not much better than ICG.
Yeah that's what I was thinking - if anything. I don't see any hairline or anything else of that sort, so I think dipping would be the only possible form of cleaning.,
I'm actually not too sure about that. Just pictures from some ebay seller so I can't really say. He's posted this one for 13.00 so I have submitted a best offer of 7.00. I kind of just want to see this coin in hand and 7.00 would be worth it I think ! hahaha
