I went to the local coin shop, where the owner is now mostly focused on gold and silver and saw a large Jiff PB container marked Over a thousand Wheat Pennies unsearched $40. From the outside I saw some nice coins so I figured I would pick it up. The employee said that the owner bought them yesterday, put the price on it and left for the day. I started looking through the pennies and found some nice coins from the teens, some AU coins from the 40's and 50's, but then I found error coins. I found 5 BIE errors, 6 rotated dies, 6 that appear to be struck through grease errors, 5 Repunched mint marks and 3 cracked skulls in the first 250 coins I looked at. Some other coins may have things I don't even have enough info to be certain of. I would guess that a collector of errors died and the heirs dumped all the wheats they could find into the Jiff jar and sold it as quickly as possible. Novice that I am, I can only ask for advice. Are there certain errors that I should look for? A good web site or book to turn to? I don't want to miss any. Currently doing a primary sort and pulling out the stuff even I can notice. I expect to give the coins a second look once I can gather more info. Thanks for any help.
