Lincoln cent large and smashed?

found this 1989 cent in a 25 yr old car I am working on. It is larger and the check out the edge. Appears smashed as the rim is uniformly rolled around the circumference on both sides. What say you?

It looks like a formerly encased coin. I don't have any images, but they were usually given as good luck pieces and were made out of aluminium.

 

I have one just like that. It is post mint damage.

 

These are sometimes referred to as "texas pennies." People pound the cent until it is enlarged.
