Hey, guys! Please do not be too strict to me. I'm here just to share my own photos and video of the recently issued commemorative 100-ruble bill, for 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

    Here they are:

The video review on the note:

The things our Bank of Russia is proud of:
    * This is the first vertical-oriented bank note in modern Russian history (since USSR).
    * The second-time Olympic bill ever (Chinese were the first to issue commemorative notes for their Beijing Olympics).

Also guys from a Russian notaphily-related forum noted, that this is most likely the very first note in the history that advertises a web site address (sochi2014.ru)

While I have mixed feelings about the Olympics in general, the note does look attractive, with the stadium, the snowboarder and the see-through window. I read there will be 20 million of them, so I guess they will actually circulate and not snapped up by collectors. ;)

As for the website, you may well be right. I have seen such a feature on coins, but this is probably a paper money premiere ...

By the way folks, do you enjoy my video review (it's in the first posting)--did you find it interesting?

Basically yes. In the context of this very topic, it may be a little redundant since you also present the two sides and other highlights in photos. So had you explained here in writing what the design represents, I would have said that I don't need the video. ;) But for somebody who sees the video (comes across it on YouTube or some other website) without the photos, the info you provide in the video is quite interesting.

Valerian, do you happen to know if these notes are available in Russia for face value? My mother in law is coming to visit from St. Petersburg in a couple weeks and I would like to ask her to pick a couple of them up for me. Perhaps the local Sberkassa would have them?

Yes, The Savings Bank of Russia (Sberbank) spreads the bills among other very few banks. You need to do one of the standard bank operations and ask for Sochi bills as a change. But it will can be late, in a few more days/weeks they will run out I believe since some ppl here grab them by tons to re-sell, collect, for gift purposes etc.

Anyway they are now widely sold for 3X or even 5X value (i.e. 300-500 RUB).

Privet privet. The Mrs was just over in St. Pete a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea about these, or I would have asked her to look out for them.
