    Hello Everyone...

Just a thought to run by you all. We all know the ASE 20th Anniversary Sets were 250 thousand strong..
    That means

    1. 250 K Reverse Proofs.
    2. 250 K + 200K Uncirc "W" eagles

The previous low for uncirculated eagles was just over 3 million in 1996. They are 50- 60 USD each.
There is potentially less than 500K 2006"W" uncirc eagles....get where I am going with this??

Please post your thoughts...I have 20 of them locked up nice and safe. ;)

Well, all I know is that I bought 10 sets, sent them to NGC, and one of my Uncirculated coins got graded MS 70 and I sold it on Ebay for 300 bucks =)

There was also 20k in the gold and silver sets for about a 470k limit more or less. I know there are a lot of people who bought this sets are pure collectors, they bought multiple sets and probably will not break the sets up. many of these sets will not see the light of day for years. So how many are acutally out there on the market.... who knows

I like your idea of the safe lol

Big time. I have 10 of them myself...Just sent 5 off to NGC. Wish I would of ordered a lot more from the Mint but didn't realize that mintage would be so low.

Recieved my 10 sets early on, opened the 10 set box, lo and behold, these coins cannot even be graded by any grading company as EVEN BEING FROM a 10th Anniversery Set. I dared to open the 10 set box from Fed-Ex

By the way, The one set I opened, the coins were all askew in the mints airtite type of holders.

#1 I WAS ONE OF THE FOLKS WHO PAID 300.OO ON EBAY FOR THE MS70 UNC. 20TH ANNIV. AS A MATTER OF FACT I DID IT 7 TIMES,BESIDES THE REV. PROOF THIS IS THE KEY COIN, IN MY OPINION,I HAVE 40 SETS BEING GRADED AT NGC AND ANOTHER 12-16 TO TAKE DOWN THIS WEEK,THE BULK OF THEM WERE BOUGHT FROM THE MINT, THE OTHERS I BOUGHT ON EBAY AT APPROX. 240.00 PER SET ...SEALED...I THINK THAT THESE ARE HOT NOW AND WILL BE EVEN HOTTER 5 YEARS FROM NOW,LIKE ALOT OF OTHER FOLKS I'M GOING TO SELL ENOUGH SO THAT THE ONES I KEEP TO PUT AWAY ARE FREE,CAN'T GET ANY BETTER THEN THAT...IMO.:smile

I think the ASE set is the most beautiful to come out in a long time. So $300 is cheap for the set ungraded, much less a 70.

Thanks guy's for the reply's. Personally I do own 2 of the ASE sets and 1 of the 3 piece AGE sets. Both still in the original boxes unopened. I am planning on opening one of the ASE sets to take a peek!

    Take care...

can not match the 1995 w eagle proof silver

250,000 reverse proof can not match the 30,000 1995 w proof silver eagle in mintage. sorry folks........

could not agree more. I think numbers may be a bit misleading though. From what i understand there are a lot more people collecting now than there was in '95 and '96. There are about 8x more reverse proofs than the '95 w. Would be happy if it went up 1/8th of the what the '95 is doing . should be interesting down the road. Now what was it that the mint was selling these sets for :mouth:

    Hello Tracy...
I was not comparing the Reverse proof to the 1995 W. If you read the thread, I am talking about the uncirculated ASE. The reverse proof is a given...compare the mintages of the 2006 W unc ASE to that of all years past and you will understand the thread topic.
The 1995 W proof is in a class all its own.

"can not match the 1995 w eagle proof silver"

    Hi,

I agree with that, especially on price. I think though what about a type collection, as the 1995W gets lumped in with the other proofs, then the reverse proof is the lower mintage.

That's why i think [just my opinion only] the 1995W is fully valued already but the reverse proof is undervalued. If they release another reverse proof though then i think that changes things.

I missed out in the 2006W UNC. What would be a good price for it?

2006-W Silver Uncirculated going for around 55-60 bucks on Ebay. I really think you will see them fly when the Mint releases the 2007-W silver uncirculated in March or April. The Mintage of the 2007-W is going to be much greater than the 2006-W so folks will be paying some high prices for the 2006. Of course nothing compared to the 1995-W Proof but should be a nice investment.

Does it mean from here on the mint will be issuing ASE with 'W' mint mark and UNC without mint mark?

You will still get the Silver American Eagle uncirculated without the mint mark from a dealer. The mint does not sell those directly.
The W mint mark coins which they just started in 2006 will be available from the mint. The mint website shows the uncirculated eagle coins will be sold in March or April. Hope this helps.
