What is going on here? On the reverse, in the columns

It looks to me like there was a chip on the die or maybe something in the die itself. Neat to won, but in this condition, I wouldn't expect a premium.

 

It's a die clash. Pretty common in that area.

 

Back to the drawing board, darn it! Hey thanks thought so, but it never hurts to ask.

 

What would the difference between this and "struck through grease" be?

 

imo...the example shown is 'above' the surface of the cent, I think press through greese examples would have 'void' of material--but I am a mere student,
