god i really hate standing in line at 7-11 while someone takes 5 minutes to pay for their coffee with a debit card!
And a lot of (most?) gas stations won't take cards for purchases under 5 dollars, there's no profit if they do.
Underground economies already comprise 60% (estimate) of Global GDP. They won't cotton to debit cards. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/037542489X/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1385610445&sr=8-2&pi=SY200
Printed currency represents less than 10 percent of the overall money supply, so that puts us closer to a cashless society than we think we are. However, I think that there are still a lot of barriers to going 100 percent cashless. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but am convinced that eliminating cash entirely would open up a Pandora's box of government control and abuse.
And you wonder why you're not taken seriously. I can only speak for myself, but I would much rather politely wait for an elderly or any other person focusing on the task at hand than have to watch an inconsiderate schmuck blabbing or texting away on a cell phone. I am guessing that life on the checkout line is rather stressful these days....
Tim supposedly posted it here: http://lunaticoutpost.com/Topic-10-reasons-why-we-should-be-cashless-in-10-years-or-less and didn't get too good a response, so apparently he thought posting it here would somehow result in a better response from the members...Tim, considering your past threads you have created, do you really expect people here to take you seriously when you give a list of top-10 ill-conceived/researched facts about why the US should be cashless in 10 years or less, especially on a COIN forum? If he actually didn't post this, then it is plagiarism.
I'm paranoid of too much government control why I'll keep my cash my coins and my guns I like things the way they used to be better change is not always for the better and too much power corrupts
Oh, no... the "starchild" is definitely posting there too. Compared to that site, the ridiculousness and conspiracy threads here are nothing; let's just say they make for a rather "interesting" read.
There is a lot you do not understand. And again most of those points you listed are rubbish. Cash is King for a multitude of reasons.
Thank you! Detecto: PROTEIN-BASED BODY FLUIDS (blood, semen) transmits HIV. Not saliva. Tell your friends. ...And about cash: Yes, it is kind of wasteful to be constantly reprinting heavily-used banknotes and to be making coins that are more expensive to manufacture than the denomination stamped on them. However, for so many reasons (in my case, the anonymity that goes with some of the cash purchases I like to make) people will still want cash.
Why would you want to advocate or encourage the mark of the beast. If you want to operate in a cashless society you will need the mark. Sounds like fun to me.
Is it a coincidence that the same post was put on two kinds of forums where they would most likely be ill-received?
Didn't Detecto recently post on how sinister the banks ( esp. Wells Fargo) were at taking his cash away in various fees due to his oversight. Now he seems on the banks side ( go digital) . I would sure test the environment in his county.
