As I well know my only question is when did the term fart come into general use it doesn't show up in early literature as do many of the others

Makes me think of the "potty dollars" ... Victorian elegance, indeed!

Finding the coins themselves can be a little bit more tricky, but they're definitely out there. I've seen several "pretty" examples. ;)

You can usually find one or two at any decent sized coin show, and something people who specialize in exonumia will have them along with other things like Hobo Nickels. I'd also be willing to be there would be a few on eBay...

Great to know I'll keep my eyes open now that I know they exist I'm not on ebay and believe it or not I've never been to a coin show yet and I've been collecting for 30 years

That's just plain crazy! And a smallish "local" coin show can't hold a candle to a national level show! You've got to get to one, some day!

It's actually been my intention for a while to do a post-show write up kind thing, I'll have to actually do that now -- just to show you what you're missing!

Hope to I've been to and set up at many national level antique shows but never been to a coin show even a small one and a national one would have more of the stuff I collect I buy at some of the major coin auctions and get the rest at New England estate auctions where I also buy 18th c American furniture (one of my 2 businesses) is hard to get away thought when I work 80+ hours a week but I'm hoping to make it to one someday

It's worth the trip just for the exhibits alone! I'm a newbie so I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to my store's Facebook page or is that "self promotion"? There are a bunch of pics of incredible coins set out for display by the ANA, Heritage, PCGS, etc.

    Things like this:
Two 1804 Dollars side by side
    [IMG]

And one of the 5 1913 Liberty Nickels!

Too much cool stuff! I think I almost got kicked out of Heritage's booth last time for drooling over their proof gold for too long ....

That's awesome!! 2 amazing coins I've never seen in person the 3 I'd most like to hold is the specimen strike 1794 $1 which I had a catalog from 1979 as a kid where it was for sale for $150k the 1873 cc no arrows and an 1822 $5 lol about the ha booth I doubt they'd kick me out if they knew who I was as I spend plenty with them but I'm sure if they saw me they'd think who's this guy I doubt I look like a typical coin collector especially not one who's main specialties are large cents and flowing hair and draped bust silver dollars
