I'm glad to hear you found a few coins and had a good time at FUN.

I really want to see if you guys can give me estimates on their values

I believe your best source of pricing information will be Heritage and eBay. I have not found the pricing guides to be accurate for VAMs...

Please understand that the market for VAMs is fickle. It has been my experience that most VAM collectors prefer to cherrypick rather than pay the "value" of them, and most price guides for VAMs are not particularly accurate. Provided you've not spent much over the normal price for a date/grade you'll do just fine. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I just want you to go into VAM collecting with your eyes open.

    Take care...Mike

Thanks for the posting, I wish that I could have gone, you guys in Florida have a great show, and now there is going to be a summer FUN show.

n_sandler4, that's great! :thumb: The biggest show I ever went to had about 80 dealers. I might need CPR if I ever went to FUN.

Just noticed you're from Jacksonville. I worked in Jacksonville for a while (J&J).

Looks like you had a good time at FUN and got some nice finds. About your 1886-P... the Top 100 book has the 1A and 1B on the same page. The 1A is the one with the line inside the 6, the 1B has the line through the designer's initial 'M'. However, the 1B has been redesignated as a VAM 21. Looks like you have a VAM 21.

Are you sure about the 1878-P 8TF being a VAM 15? I can't tell from the picture, but it looks like the engraved wing feathers are different. Does it match the image below?

My coin doesn't have those...I heard there were entire books written on JUST the 1878 varieties, so aparently I have a different variety. Hopefully a rarer one=P

Mike, I have never really though about it, but I have never heard of anybody going out and paying big money for vam's. All I hear is how everybody's cherry picking them, so how do you get an accurate value if no one is paying a premium for them?

There are a few that will sell for substantial premiums, but very few. Most of them will sell for about or slightly more than the same coin in the same grade that is not attributed as the VAM. That's the point - most VAMs do not sell for premiums.
