I took a chance in eBay with these.

I think the first two might be cleaned but the last one looks decent.

    What are your thoughts?

I'll post pictures of each when they arrive.

The first two definitely appear to have been altered, but the last is a mystery aside from a likely dip.

The 1st one looks iffy and the second one has definitely been cleaned , but like Tom B. said I really can't see the last one to tell , but at least it looks to have decent luster . Better clearer pics would help .

Tough to tell from the pictures.

1892: thought it has been cleaned but I'm liking the way its toning.
1909: you can see some luster around the stars, but the fields have lost all of theirs. I'm thinking this might be cleaned as well.

Without better pics, it's tough to judge.

well, since you obviously can't take them out of the holders, I do believe that they are all cleaned.

    Pass on them.

I believe the OP already bought these, but he should be able to determine if the coins have been cleaned once he receives (without removing and "voiding" the return).

I'm guessing that they all have been cleaned. The 1892 looks to have good eye appeal and the 1909 may be problem-free.

I've never seen a seller put such a restriction on a return privilege.

    I did already buy them.

Well the seller said no returns in the description, and said each coin would grade AU55-58 (LOL) He had them started at $375 obo and kept dropping the price. I sent a low ball offer compared to what he was asking and he accepted it. I'm hoping the first two will be at least EF-AU detail coins but it's hard to tell since the pictures are so fuzzy.

I know the 1898 is cleaned as it doesn't look normal at all, the 1892 looks to be cleaned but might have retoned, the last one was the only one I thought might still have a chance to be graded. I know some of you said they all look cleaned but the 1909 looks like it's still original and that's what I'm hoping. That one as well might be cleaned but I'm hoping it was just the awful pictures. I asked for additional pictures and the ones he sent me were worse than the ones I posted. They shipped out this morning he said so hopefully by Monday or Tuesday I'll be able to post good pictures of each coin.

I don't know that my offer would have been higher than half his asking $180-190 and that would be for problem free XF coins which neither the 92 or the 98 have a chance at, although the 92 might be retoning relatively nicely.
