Need help on a 25 cent canadian coin I found that has no reference in the new world book of coins catalog that I could find. It is the freedon coin and the spelling of the word" LIBERTY" on this coinit is spelled spelled "LIBERTE" with a E and not a "Y" is this correct ?
I'm going to take a WAG and say that it's a token somehow related to the separatist movement in Quebec, since it has the word in French, not English and mentions "freedom". How about either posting a picture, or a detailed description including date, legends, and description of the design? If it doesn't have a bust of the English monarch who reigned the year it is dated, it is definitely not a Canadian coin.
FREEDOM 2000 LIBERTÉ It's a bilingual coin, its just the French translation of 'freedom', in French, there aren't separate words for liberty and freedom, they just use the one word 'liberté'. Of course, I'm guessing this is one of the 2000 millenium quarters, if not, then I might be way off.
Obverse= Elizabeth the II D A REGINA bottom of coin 25 cents. Reverse= Freedom 2000 Liberte= in the center of coin maple leaf with two people standing with arms raised. bottom of coin says= CANADA.
Several 25c pieces were issued in 2000. What you describe is probably the November issue celebrating freedom.
