Everyone on the forum isn't an adult.

I'm 15, and I know of several other guys who are under 18.

Being an adult isn't just age. I work with the public and see many "old" children.

,,You started out young, i was looking to see what you had for sell on ebay and it shows you registered to start selling on dec. 02 which would make you around 11.. How long have you been collecting coins?I,m glad we have people your age here, we can learn a lot from someone your age as well as someone older..[ps] tell us about your coin collecting

I feel the same way, GDJMSP, and although I spent my early time in this hobby as a collector, I now like the history and numismatic art more fulfilling. After all, in a Mercury-dime set, all the dimes (including the fabled 1916-D) look the same, don't they? I'm not even trying for a type set now--and don't have one since I sold all my coins in the early 1980s. Like you, I'm involved in studying aspects of coins and enjoying the numismatic art, but let me tell you that I did build my sold collection back up.

I agree. Many interesting and busy topics have been given the axe too soon. IMHO, many of these threads could have just been moved to the general or politics forums and left to run their course.

That's very interesting. I've had a slightly similar experience in that the internet provides instant access to so many great close-up photos and stories about coins that I don't really feel the need to own them to enjoy them. The photos are better than my vision. So my collecting is mostly confined to circulated silver coins, bullion, and more recently, tokens.

The moderators here are fantastic, as is the entire forum.

I'd just like to take this oportunity to welcome you, and assure you that we are very glad to have you as a member of the forum.

Getting to know people takes time.
I've been here for a long time, and I'm sure most of the members have no idea who I am.
That's fine with me. It's not about me...it's about the hobby of coin collecting.

I began collecting coins in the mid-60's, after being given some by relatives.
My main interests are Merchant tokens and Jefferson nickels.

I was asked to help moderate, and agreed to do the best I could, with the understanding that my job takes up a lot of my time.

I participate in other online coin forums, too.
Without a doubt, this is one of my favorites.

Good luck with your hobby, and perhaps we will have an oportunity to talk again, sometime.

    Jody

    Thanks. I appreciate that.--gunsmoke

That makes it unanimous. Of all the Moderators who have responded, not one is what I would call a conventional collector. Interesting.--gunsmoke
