I recently picked up these bills and went looking for Hutt River coins...I wrote to Prince Leonard of the Hutt River province as I was having a hard time finding coins from his province...I find plenty of his Gulf War coins but I am specifically looking for ones with a portrait of the prince and as far as I can tell there is only one the last time I looked on e-bay and it is a proof and more expensive than I would like to pay. I am only looking for one example for my collection. So I wrote him. He had none for sale on the Hutt River Province website and I asked him if he had any he would like to sell or any plans to mint more (specifically ones with his portrait one them.) He responded: Dear Sir, There will shortly be several issues of coins available, which we consider will be well received by coin collectors. I Suggest you watch our website. Regards HRH Prince Leonard Sovereign Hutt River Principality So that is what I will do, in the meantime...does anyone know where any Hutt River coins with the a portrait of the prince might be for sale at a reasonable price? I will keep an eye on his website...I hope his next issue will be a more classic prince Leonard issue instead of the themed coins I see so many of... BTW...Its cool that he wrote me back...do you think Prince Charles would answer a question I sent him in e-mail? I think not!!
Drusus, you're right about the notes being easy to find, but the Hutt River Province Principality's coins, especially the small coins from the 5c. to the 50c. are increasingly tough to find.I was lucky to snap up the few small coins I did find a few years back in dealers' stocks over here in New Zealand. Who knows, there may be a dealer in Australia who may have at least 1 coin, but even most Aussie dealers haven't got them because of their difficulty in finding them in the first place. Aidan.
