I'm selling a firearm of mine, and had someone offer me these coins. Any ideas as to what they are and their value? He assures me theyre real, and is planning on taking them for appraisal this week, but I'd like to know your thoughts first. Mainly interested in value/trade value.

    Thanks!

You're going to have to have somebody authenticate these pieces. Spanish dollars (piece of eight) have been counterfeited. Something you could do though, is hold a magnet up to them. There should be no attraction.........

Yeah the reverse of the 1820 Ferdinand reverse looks a bit iffy. The Ferdinand doesn't sell for that much because there's still plenty of them around. I had one a couple of years ago, think I paid $70 and flipped it for $80. I don't know anything about the other coins because I'm mostly into US coinage. How much does the seller think his coins are worth? Just wondering.

"I need to sit down and look through them. The 1689 runs between $600-$1100. This one is nicer than most I have seen. the peice of eight 2-400?. I know just enough about them to realize I am a novice and do not really know squat If it was BMG parts I could tell you every detail and value. I inherited these. I could send youpics of them and what I see on the net regarding these. Hate to do it that way but these really are out of my my Grandfather collected these back in the 50s."
