    Damaged coins are fairly common.

    It looks damaged to me.

Here is a really good website that has a database of many different error coins you may find in your searches...I would recommend reading it so you know some things specifically to look for. :)

No, just providing a very useful link...I have it bookmarked on my computer so I can read up on the different types of errors in my spare time.

Ok. I guess I fell into the "ouch" comment but replied to you. Thanks again you have been most helpful. I had bought Alan Herbert's "The Official Price Guide To Mint Errors" and I swear I've read it at least 4xs cover to cover but there is still so much that doesn't stick or I just don't understand. I gave up on asking coin questions in 2009-2010 b/c I was posting on this site and I felt so out of touch from the others like I do now, I won't give up again but b4 I post again, I will try to learn more. Thanks!

And pay attention to that most notable 'Frisko Kid'.........he's adorable and most knowledgeable indeed........he's young but he's good. Not like age old present guys......

Greenie, if my arm was a little bit longer, I'd smack you.

Those dimes were metal detected. Over the years I have found clad dimes, quarters and even some "nickels" with the brown toning like what you have. Thanks Darrow
