Well i usually dont do this but i got these coins in the mail today i usually dont post my purchases of the forum but today my dad looked at the coins they are all raw and so we both put down are own opinions of the grades Hear is what he said and what i said 1930 D Me- Ef-40 Dad VF-30 1937-S Me Ef-40 Dad VF-30 1937 Me Au-50 Dad VF-30 1955 Bugs Bunny Variety me ms63-64 dad Ef-40 1958 D me ms63 dad ms63 The coins are a 1930 Wheat cent, 1937 S buffalo nickel, 1937 P buffalo nickel, 1955 Bugs Bunny Variety Franklin half (the coin looks more dull in the photo then it is in reality it a a problem free coin with almost no bag wear or other wise), 1958 D Franklin Half Dollar !! Thanks for your opinion and help ! P.S just for experience comparing my father is not a collector and just helps me collect he did some collecting a kid but has not continued it !! i have 10 years of collecting under my belt !!
Also the buffalo nickel has mint luster !! just thought i would add that the photo does not do it justice !!
I can't really offer an opinion on anything but the Franklins because that's pretty much all I collect. I'd give the 55 MS64 and the 58D MS62, maybe 63, the gashes on the obverse are pretty serious.
Y the au50 on the half it has no surface wear?? also the 1937 still has mint luster and full horn how is it vf ??
He didn't say "AU50", but AU yes... look again as it's quite clear. Also, both nickels do look to be in the VF range with one somewhat better than the other.
dont start using attitude i have seen you doing such all over on the forum and it does not have the low quality of an AU graded example i have seem worse ms64 slabbed examples and bsowa1029 who collects frankies says a ms64 !!
First, I didn't give you attitude, hotshot. You misquoted the man and I simply tried to point this out. If you cannot accept answers different from what you wish to hear, don't ask. Go ahead and see whatever you want (kind of like with ebay), and if you're so sure it will come back a 64, submit it, but just be sure to let us know the results.
The 55 looks to have breaks in the luster across Franklins face and across the bell lines. I net graded the 37 and just called them both VF. The images taken at an angle don't make it easy. It actually looks EF details, cleaned, maybe polished. It has a shiny look to it. Sorry, I should have said more in my first post.
Thanks for clarifying also thier isnt a break in the toning actually looking at the coins but in those ares their is like a starting to tone almost look to it!!
BooksB4Coins is in my opinion a very knowledgable collector/numismatist. If you cannot appreciate his humble opinion which you yourself asked, well you won't get far. I'm not here to change your mind, It's just that you ask us to grade the coin and then when we give you our opinion you fight over it? Really, were here to help you, give our opinions. That was very rude what you did.
it was not simply him giving a lower grade it was his rudeness more or less and i have seen many arguments on here containing him over the past few mouths i am not in the least saying he dosent know what he is talking about but more or less rude statements like "He didn't say "AU50", but AU yes... look again as it's quite clear." are uncalled for i can read thank you very much ! I did not call in his judgement at all had he left out that rude comment i simply would have asked how he came to his opinion which is a very valid question because the man above graded it a ms64 i would like to know y he thinks it is much lower then the man above does !! I did not mean to start a agreement i but i do not want to be spoke to like a child when i am asking for help !! Now thanks and have a nice day !
So let me get this straight... you think it rude to say something is "quite clear" even when it is, well, quite clear? Seriously though, please try to understand that there is a difference between being straightforward and being rude. Now, since all we have to go on is your photos, please take another look at the obverse (55-P 50C): there appears to be clear rub in areas of the cheek, hair, and base of the bust, which should automatically preclude an MS grade. You mentioned seeing coins residing in 64 holders that you deemed "worse" than the coin in question, and even though I cannot speak for what you've seen or for your opinions, please understand that there are coins residing in holders that they do not or should not deserve to be in, and the fact that such coins exist does not mean all other examples that one believes comparable should get into the same holder. If this coin, from what we can see in the photos, got into a 64 holder, it would most certainly be viewed as a "hot potato", which essentially is an overgraded or lower end for the grade example that is best avoided. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with your coin, but on its technical merits, I must respectfully disagree with you and Mr. Bowsa in regards to grade.
Personally, I would have to see the coin in-hand in order to make a judgment that I'd be comfortable with. The areas in question are also the areas most prone to contact marks. Grading Franklins can be very tricky because of this. Here's Photograde's MS-62 Franklin: Note the contact marks on the cheek, hair, and base of bust.
