Hello all: I saw a site that might be useful to sell coins, but don't know anything about. Would love to know users experience selling here - http://www.usacoinbook.com/ - If there are any that have sold via this site or if others have recommendations. Thanks,
I have never heard of it, but as I general rule I have never had much luck trying to sell on a second tier on-line site. There simply are not enough buyers that look at these sites to generate success. The first thing I looked at was the auction listings, could not see a single coin with a bid on it. Ussually. the site host will place at least a few bids to make the site look active. Not a good indication of success at all.
I get the feeling that quite a few sellers on that site don't know much about coins. For example, there was a half dime shown with its grade listed as VG on its 2X2 holder, but the seller had it listed as EF. There were a couple of other coins that were maybe Good-4, but the seller called them "super clean gem". And one offering, which included a picture of a huge red fingernail pointing to a damaged 1874 $1 gold piece, was asking $3000 for the coin.
