Hello cointalkers, Today I am curious to know if someone could identify the browning variety on a capped bust quarter I recently purchased. It appears to have been struck with a shattered obverse die, though I may be wrong. Thank you! Also there are some scuffs on the holder that are not on the coin. -Mike
Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I was away from my books and will be for the next week or so. Anyway, you coin is an 1836 B-1, R-2 with the distinguishing bisecting die crack. It's a common variety but gets harder to find in higher AU and MS grades.
