The picture's a little blurry but I'll agree with Treashunt 'cause he's older and more experienced.....
Yeah it is pretty blurry. I tried to fix it but I couldn't. I was thinking MS60 and was just wanting opinions of the more experienced members here.
I think it could go 65 easily and maybe 66 , I have a 66 '38-D that my wife bought me over 30 years ago and it's similar except the color . Though that's with a caveat that the pics are blurred and I'm assuming there are very few small imperfections . Nice coin .
That would be nice if it went that high. I bought it UNC so it if were to go into the 65-66 range I would be ecstatic!!
i would agree this coin is most likely a ms65 if you had it slabbed worth an easy 40 plus shipping !!
No OMM's. So, if I WERE to send it in, should I send it to PCGS or NGC? I personally like NGC better, but which one would grade better on this particular coin?
IMO not worth slabbing. If you like NGC that's where to send it. Though if you search auctions you will find that for the most part, coins of the same grade Pcgs brings more money
As a general rule of thumb, if a coin is MS60 it means that it has not wear, but that it is chewed up something awful. Since that is not the case with this piece, you can comfortably assume it is not MS60. The 1938-D Buffalo is exceptionally common in high grade so it would take an MS67, more or less, to justify sending the coin in for certification. As such, I would suggest you keep it raw.
