Just got in from work and x-mas came today.!! Finally received my 2 ASE anniversary sets (ordered in Oct), and they were worth the wait. The standard proof coin looks even better than ever, the W mint marked burnished blank coin is flawless and the reverse proof coin is just beautiful. The mat finish on the backround of the reverse proof as flat as it can be, simply gorgeous. The coins in both of the sets were loose from their slots but I didn't see any sort of damage and the packaging is nice as well. Gave one set to my son as a belated x-mas gift and will treasure the other one for a long time. If I sound excited, it's because I am. I have been collecting for a very long time and have hundreds and hundreds of a variety of coins sets and I have to say I "LOVE" this one the most. I have read a variety of complaints about this set from different sources and for different reasons, but I couldn't be more pleased. I hope you all get the ones you ordered and have a similiar experience.
line.... People who do not even collect coins like these sets. I think that is why they will remain popular in the future. still waiting on my last 4 sets that was shipped last week . dang it
Just received my set today as well. Line - you're absolutely correct, they are beautiful coins! I hesitated and never ordered until 11/13. Now I wish I'd ordered more sets than the one.
20th Anniversary Set Due to my stupidity, I didn't order them until 12/9, and am on the waiting list. I check 2-3 times a day to see if my order will be filled. I can't believe how dumb I was not to order the set on the release date, and now I am paying the price for it. PLEASE wish for me that I can have the joy you all are showing upon receiving the set. :headbang:
I ordered 1 set right away, saw that I could double my money on Ebay, ordered 3 more sets. The last 2 came in the mail Wednesday. I am sending them in to NGC to see how they grade out. Hopefully I will get them back in a month with a PF/MS 70! Freddypm
it is a beautiful set, I agree. Even the box is the best one of this year. Certainly worth a lot more than the mint price.
20th Anniversary ASE Sets I agree that this set, with the debut of the reverse proof, is a very special set to have if you're a collector of ASE's. My set came in time for X-mas and when I opened it the proof was free of it's airtite, I was horrified. I was unable to detect any damage to the coin, but the airtite has a small scratch on the outside. I called the US Mint about this problem to see if they were giving any type of compensation, only to be told that my only recourse was to return the coins for a refund. After a hardy laugh I told them "not on your life". I have the proof as a single should the set proof turn up with a flaw because of coming free of the protector. It is really the reverse proof that I needed to keep my collection complete. How many CoinTalk members that recieved this set recieved them with one or more of the coins free of its airtite?
Congrats! I got mine a few days ago; however my order for the '06 American Legacy Proof Set was apparently cancelled by the mint. What did say "backordered until ......" now says "Line Cancelled." Oh well, can't win 'em all I guess.
Yeah, but take a look around, Ebay etc., the Legacy Sets are selling at or below issue price, if they are even selling at all. Maybe they will head up in the future, maybe not. I only got 1 ASE 20th Set,:headbang: , surely wishing I had ordered more. and only 1 Legacy Set.
I had the REV Proof out of the case---I ordered 3 sets---one for myself, one for dad, and one for Bro-in-law---normaly I would have let Bro-in-law have that set but I kept it myself....I looked the coin over with 4x and 10x and didn't see anything so I don't think it had been out of the case long. Speedy
Speedy, if I had opened mine and found the reverse proof open and loose I would have cried and my relatives would have thought, no knew, I had lost my mind. Glad to hear you found no flaws on yours. It was very honorable of you to not give it away and keep the other set. I think the mint owes everyone at least a public appology.
All 3 of my sets had the capsules floating around inside - I am not even sure what order they should be in, except the rev pr is on the far right. One had a small crsck to the edge of the case, but thankfully they were otherwise OK. Beautiful coins, excellent packaging, but TERRIBLE for protection during shipment.
20 Ase recieved mine on dec 27 late christmas prsent but well worth the wate . mine also were loose but no cracks or any thing . my wife also liked them thats unusual . a nice adition to my colection, only wish i ordered more like so many others wvrick
Congrats on getting 2 as did I. My Revserse Proof in the set I opened appears to be flawless except for a single mark on the reverse, smaller than the size of the tip of a pin. I guess that is enough to cause a PR-69, oh well. This is a beautful coin.
Finally got my last shipment of silver anniversary sets. Still in the box and now can quit worrying about getting them. I wonder if they are really in there. lol . kind of an end of an era for me. Think i can go take a nap now. thanks everyone for your support during this trying period of my life. Just kidding I think.
L.O.L bama guy....still waiting for 2 others I had ordered and the mint says expected to ship on Dec 22.!!! My son really liked the one I gave him and don't mean to be greedy, but would love to see the mailman deliver 2 more......wait a sec...there's the mail truck>>>to be continued
I only ordered the uncirculated coin. It took forever to receive the two I ordered with the mint moving the the ship date 5 times. Everyone says they are a great looking coin but besides the W mint mark I can't tell the difference from the normal issue. They burnish all the coins after stamping ( the mint say they do this to remove any grease or other residue) so how do you tell the difference? Mine came in a genuine mint blue box and a mini blue satin bag kind of like a Crown Royal Whiskey bag. Is that the difference?
