Why do you think the Morgan is fake?

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to say that.

I'm fairly certain the morgan is real. I've asked several friends who collect with more experience than me and while they agree with you all that it has been cleaned they believe it is real.

I was pondering the authenticity of the Morgan as well. Even if it was I still would have paid $23 for the half and the three :) mainly just for the three, the half would have been bonus. I say good deal if it's fake, awesome deal if it's real!

I think the three-cent piece has minimal value because the last two digits of the date appear to be unreadable. The pictures of the Morgan dollar are really too poor to decide whether it's a fake or not, but it does appear to be very harshly cleaned. It would be nice to get some higher resolution photos of these coins taken under better lighting conditions.

Can you read the date on the 3 Cent Piece in hand?

In person you can clearly see the 18, about half of the 5, and then the forth number is completely gone. So it is either an 1851, 1852, or 1853 but that was already known because it doesn't have the outlined star or the branch/arrows on the other side.

That is an awesome deal! I'd pay $23 just for a morgan! Definitely a great addition to any collection!
