Lastest addition to my lucilla set is a rare reverse type featuring Fecunditas. Its pretty common in big bronzes but not so with her silver. Was able to get for a decent price too. Have one more to share but will be done at a later date. Lucilla (164 - 182 A.D.) AR Denarius Obv: LVCILLA AVGVSTA, draped bust right. Rev: FECVNDITAS, Fecunditas or Lucilla seated right, holding child on lap; before her, a second child standing left, reaching towards her. Rome 2.58g RIC III 765 (Aurelius); RSC 19
Lovely Lucilla, congratulations on a fine addition to your harem. How many ladies do you have now, Mat? Both different women and total number. Just curious
Another cool addition to your collection Mat. I like these reverse types, it makes them seem more human.
Sweet coin, Mat ... Oh, and I totally agree with randygeki => it is kinda cool seeing the good ol' "family unit" together on a Roman coin
oh yeah, cool lucilla. i've got a big, worn and kind of ugly, lucilla orichalum sestertius with the fecunditas/kids reverse....really like the style.
If anything Mat I applaud your ability to stay honed in on a single empress or even empresses in general. I really do like is the children sitting on her lap, that's awesome. I would really like to see that reverse on a chunky sestertius. A fabulous piece.
Couple around here admire that I can have such a focus. I dont find it too hard. Probably cause I have a small coin budget a month & I wanna make sure its a coin I will enjoy and not likely flip.
Nice, sweet portrait of Lucilla. The reverse is endearing too. As you say, a scarce coin in silver. Most are bronzes.
Thanks, Eduard. I still have 1 more to share and its probably one of my favorites. Will be shared soon.
