At the last Long Beach show I bought this really neat "medal" from the Columbian Exposition that is made of pressed wood. Even came with the original paper box that is sort of falling apart. Don't know too much about it except that I thought it was cool :)

That's really unusual illini. I have leather, plastic, fiber, and rubber medals but nothing in wood that I can think of. Great find!

The 1795 Conder token Yorkshire 63 depicts York Minster and Clifford's tower as does the 1796 medal by Cattle, Harrison and Cattle. At 45mm, the medal has room for some addtional detail compared to the 28mm token.

A sort of strange medal made up for the non collector market newspaper collector!
Since the items covered were two years apart.

Here is another that I couldn't pass up, as it is a gold plated Ike, on one side of the framing. On the other side of the frame it is hawked as an Apollo dollar. Was probably sold in the newspapers as a two for collectable.

    And another nicer Apollo medal

Neil Armstrong 40th anniversary in 2009, Alan Sheppard 50th anniversary in 2011, John Glenn 50th anniversary in 2012. I'm not aware of any commemoritive coins/medals for these anniversaries. But if your a crackhead celebrity in Hollywood, you get nothing but praise for your "amazing talent."

These are some tokens issued by some of the logging companies in Mississippi in the late 1800s and early 1900s and could only be used at the Company Store usually by the time the employees got what they needed they owed the store money! My father worked in the logging industry for a short time but my grandfather worked there a long time and the stories we were told as children were of hard work little pay how bad living in the camps were.

Yeah... she had me goin' for almost a minute... I envisioned a wall of my office with Conder Token wallpaper... Then >pop!< the bubble burst... Still nice. She does great work. Her website is an garden of numismatic delights.

    But... speaking of things exonumismatic:
