Just won this on ebay. What do you think it grades at. I paid $90 out the door, do you think i over paid or got a good deal
I Can't tell from the photos. I would bookmark this site and use it as a guide when placing bids for coins: numismedia I know you are a new member here, but not sure how new you are to collecting. You may want to stick with NGC / PCGS graded coins while shopping on eBay, at least until you get familiar with grading coins from seller photos and estimating a fair price. It's an AU55 to AU58 coin that has been dipped. At $90 you paid all the money for it, in my opinion. However, if you like it at that level then it was worth every cent.
I understand about buying the ones that are already graded. I was just wondering because the add said that it was unc and I was wondering what everyone else thought
The coin is not uncirculated. It has an obvious line of rub or wear down the center of the obverse starting from at least Ms. Liberty's breast and going in a line to the bottom of her dress. The eagle also appears to have rub on the breast feathers and leg. You paid AU money and received an AU coin, which seems like a fair deal if you like the coin. Please be aware that I have not seen this coin in-hand and am only going by what appear to be scans of the coin, but I am fairly confident in my opinions of the piece.
I agree with the opinion that were given above this coin is not in BU it is most likely AU Mabye dipped and could grade even lower the quality of the images is bad saying mabye the seller was hiding something if i was bidding i would have stayed away from this coin like the plague unless it was much cheaper just my 2 cents you never know it could be a great coin. Please post better images when you receive it !!
