If anyone planning to get a 1913 or 1914 $10.00 Gold reissue ??
Jonathan Kerns has one of each real 1913 1914 $10.00 Gold graded to by Ngc MS 64.
For about the same price as the reissue. I don't work for him.
I just was reading his web site.

Hey, I love you guys ... but I have a feeling that this next post of mine might actually alienate us a bit?!!

Yah, I am totally into ancient coins ... ummm, and I'm totally into Dominion of Canada bills and quarters ...

Ummm, but sadly, I must admit that I'm also addicted to modern Canadian quarters, including the weakest of all the quarters

=> the painted steel babies!! (yup, I have every single one of 'em!!)
ENJOY, brothers!! (*I'm sorry that I'm so weak*)

I'm just kidding, most of my collection is modern, i even collect empty Bank coin bags, these are very cool...;)

Nice coins, Rick ... really nice photos (the background looks slick against the nice ol' toned coppers)

Hey, do you think any of those painted-steel quarters will ever be worth any value? (probably not, eh?) ... yah, they really are quite lame ...

However, a few of them have such low mintages, so perhaps "one day" a few of the low mintage examples will be semi-collectible?

For example, the 2007 Calgary Flames has a mintage of 1,082 coins (that's pretty low!!)

... anyway, I realize that these coins will probably never be worth even as much as I initially paid for them, but for whatever reason I still found/find them alluring!!?

Are you saying the RCM is reissuing a gold coin similar to the ones they sold off in 2012?

With these two pick-ups, my Canada Large Cent year set is complete:)

Congrats => it is a nice feeling, eh?

Ummm, but now do you have plans to continually upgrade that set, or will you move-on and tackle another project?

Which 1881 variety did you pick up? ... you said DD, but there are scores of 1881 dies that have some letters in the legend doubled. It's one of my favorite years and I have well over 100 1881's, because there is so much variety to be found, including some quite scarce.

Well, since I still have my camera out, plus you're not all booing my horrible photos, I figured that I'd snap a shot of my "Newfie 20 cents collection" ...

Man, talk about the best bargain for your buck, eh? (Newfs are great value!!)

=> geesh sorry ... yah, that is a pretty bad photo, plus it certainly doesn't do any of the coins any justice => they are far better looking, in-hand!! (oh well, the thought was there!!)

    Yes it is!

There are 5 (maybe 6) that I'll keep an eye out for upgrades (a nice raw example preferably, about 70-75% of the set is raw; the '81 & '58 I just posted above are two that I'd like finer examples of) but the rest I'm pretty happy with their grades as I've upgraded many of them over the last few years.

I'm still working on my Newfoundland Large Cent (shy about 5) and my Canada & Newfoundland 50 Cent sets.

    Well over 100!
The dealer mentioned DD in relation to the DEI GRATIA REGINA but we kept getting interrupted & I was late for a dinner so cashed out so he could help the other customers - so we didn't get a chance to talk more in detail. Kind of regretting that now!
I'll need to set up the camera for some close-ups and see what I can find.
