003.JPG 004.JPG I was just going through a recent purchase and found a 1944 Liberty that it is missing the designers initials. I know there is a 1945 variety but I can not find anything listing a 1944. Is anybody aware of such a variety?

Like you, the only one I'm aware of is the '45.
There's the possibility that yours is the result of a grease filled die and not an abraded die, like the '45.

There is also an 18-S and a 42, probably some others as well. It can't be a grease filled die because the initials are incuse on the coin so they are raised on the die, nothing to "fill". On the other hand the initials are the highest point on the die making them susceptible to chipping off, or being polished off the die.
