hi all.. is there an inexpensive digital camera which will take nice coin pics? i could always hunt for a decent used one also (pawn shops). this way i can share photos.... i have never used a digital camera before (still somewhat technologically illiterate!!) thank you for the advice...steve
I can't recommend a specific inexpensive camera (I sprung for a Canon Digital Rebel two-plus years ago) but I can suggest that whatever one you do get should have a close-up feature (this is usually indicated by a flower icon on the switch or knob). Most of the inexpensive cameras have what I affectionately call the "George-proof" mode in that they will automatically determine a decent shot for you. (The Rebel has one of these as well and I use it about 90 percent of the time.) You want to get as many megapixels as you can afford; that way you can get a higher quality larger photo. You can always crop it down for display here using software that comes with the camera. Good luck!
if i were in the market to by a photo making devise i think i would buy the hp psc 1210v all in one printer, scanner and copier. i have one and it makes pretty good pictures. we got ours at walmart but i don't remember the price. you could probaly find a used one for around $20 though. plus it prints and copies and it is not that big.

I suggest you go to the numerous stores that sell digital cameras and just look, ask lots of questions. Check out the adds in the papers, also. Keep watching forums like this one and keep on asking questioins about cameras prior to buying one. Remember asking which camera to buy is like asking which car to buy. Everyone will give you a reason to buy a certain one.
