Finally found out the secret mintage numbers for the 2009-2013 Somalia Elephants.

    Greetings!

    I've searched hi and low and for a long time to get these mintage numbers. Most on here know me as a fan of all types of coins but the Somalia Elephant has really become a favorite. There's been much of a fuss being created about the true mintage numbers. This also helps explain some price fluctuations.

    Here they are:

    2013- 140k
    2012- 80k
    2011- 170k
    2010- 120k
    2009- 130k

    Aww... I saw this and decided to search for these on eBay, thinking they were elephant shaped coins. What a disappointment!

    The coins aren't shaped like Elelephants but they have Elephants on them Each year is a different design of the Elephants and they're minted to a proof-like standard. Becoming very popular. Check them out on eBay. They first came out in 2004 and the 2014 just came out. There worth checking out on eBay. Very popular coin. And beautiful.

    And minted in Germany, if I'm not mistaken.
    Imagine how they would look if they were produced in a mint in Mogadishu?
