Postmaster said that it was scanned at Kearny and that the likelihood of them finding the package is slim at best. She didn't know how registered mail could have disappeared, it did make it through customs. So I suspect it could have been pilfered by an employee after that, who knows?
Its funny how I really only ever have issues with mail going through new york-jersey and ca. No other states have I ever noticed issues. Now some countries, however, are horrendous.....
That sucks... hopefully it will show up eventually though, its not unheard of. Just have to keep your fingers crossed I've only had one coin get lost, but luckily it was cheap and the money was refunded (then again it was a pretty rare coin...)
That is a drag, my friend ... it's funny how attached we can become to our coins, eh? I too have only lost one coin-order through the post ... and pitifully, I still keep the coin-photos just in case there is eventually an "Incredible Journey" ending!! C'mon little Burma coin => please find your way to A-Noob's house!! (I know you can do it!!)
UPDATE: Consumer affairs contacted me and told me they would make another attempt to find the coin. The ysaid it could have been placed in dead mail or somehow got torn loose from its packaging and there for is a loose item. The lady was quite nice and told me honestly that there was only about 70% chance of recovery at this point in the incredible journey. This was unespected and far better news than the first attempt at recovery. I was also told that they have a great deal of trouble wit the Kearney NJ sort facitlity and they do not respond to the inquires of other parts of the USPS. So those fingers are still crossed. I told to the seller to hold off for a little while refundung me, as it still might be found.
