    manymore Chinese Charms

Unfortunately, neither coin is rare or valuable.

The first coin is a "marriage charm". Your specimen is a modern reproduction (probably made in Vietnam) of a Chinese charm discussed in this article.

The second coin is a "fake" of a very rare 20 cash ("calculated weight 1 liang") coin cast at the Fuzhou, Fujian mint during the reign of the Xianfeng Emperor.

I compared your coin to the known varieties of authentic pieces published by Mr. Ma Dingxiang, one of the most famous Chinese coin collectors of the last century. Your specimen is definitely not authentic.

Sorry, but I only reply in the forum and do not email my posts.

    thanks for the reply
"wind flower snow moon" coin I'm sure this is 100% real coins, because my grandfather is Chinese, and it has been handed down through many generations, so it is ancient coin! it was new because it was carefully kept through generations!

I have to disagree that 'kept through generations' is a helpful way to describe something as genuine. It could have been a fake to start off with. I have strong reservation of the first charm. It looks too modern as well as there is excess metal when the strokes intersect with other strokes - a strong possibility that this is a cast.

I have no opinion on the second coin as the details are too low for me to make another opinion. Gut feel - it just doesnt' seem right even though I don't specialize in this coinage.
