http://www.nationalsilverdollarroundtable.org/?p=1095 What are your thought's on the peace dollar? Most examples are pretty ugly even in higher grades, and it's hard to find those with the beautiful natural "light" rainbow toning. Most example have really bad strikes T^T I own 3 peace dollars and is it just me or do the AU one's have way more eye appeal. Post your thoughts on the peace dollar below, i'd love to hear em! (and i'm sure gbroke will chime in with those toners hopefully?)
That's a great article. I think the Peace dollar is vastly underrated. While it takes a bit more work than for Morgans, it's quite possible to find beautiful lustrous Peace dollars with relatively clean surfaces and decent strikes.
Agree with Lehigh, that the great ones are truly great - but the average ones really leave something to be desired. I've always liked the reverse much more than the obverse.
Great article!! Thanks for sharing. The typically weak strike of the Peace Dollar is, for me, part of the challenge in putting together a collection. As Volante points out, this definitely (IMHO) requires more work than a Morgan collection. I'll post some pictures later. Peace, Brother.
I love them but only own one, a common year for my CAC Type set, but I think it's great. One day, I will own a few more, hopefully a nicely toned one.
This one got me started on building a circulated set, it was in a standard NGC Holder now in Retro Holder
Thank you for the link to the article. Very informative and interesting! Peace dollars are my favorite series. Thanks again. -L
I too am building a Peace Dollar set both raw and slabbed. Due to poor strikes it is a tough series to grade accurately.
Because the pictures are fuzzy, all are graded by PCGS as follows: MS64: 1921, 1927, 1928 and 1934 MS65: 1922, 1923, 1924,1926 and 1935 MS65+: 1925
