No, the rest are from A LOT of rolls. I even found another silver quarter in a roll! The guy ahead of me in line turned in 10 rolls of quarters and I bought the rolls. Lo and behold, there was one silver quarter. But the best news is coming later...I had to send a coin out for authentication...wait until you see...I hope it is real...

    Doug,

I am very tall: I can see in the trays from behind the counter. Even into other teller trays! It is an advantage! I usually just ask: "Are you saving those Canadian coins at the bottom of your tray?" Most of the tellers answer "Those aren't Canadian, they're silver. Do you want them?" I am always flabbergasted when I say sure and they sell them to me at face. Once in a while a teller says, "Oh, no, those are mine!"

I'm glad to meet another collector!

Thanks. I might try that line.

What happens when you get the same teller next time? Ask for more "Canadians"? ;-)

    Box #70 of Halves: 2-40%
    Box #71 of Halves: Skunk
    Box #72 of Halves: Skunk
Box #73 of Halves: 1-40% A Bicentennial Proof! Haven't found one of those in a while!
My numbers for the month are turning out dismal! :( With only .699 40%/box, so far, this month is even lower then last month's record low.
Need 106 to complete a box of 40%.

Well, in my case, she pointed down at her tray and asked me if these (dollar coins) were OK, and I saw the stack of JFKs in the Ike slot in here tray, and the gray stripe of the second one from the bottom. :)

What yields the most silver? Halves, quarters, dimes, nickels?

Could someone give me an idea of how much I would need to purchase to be successful at finding silver? On average.

I started out today looking for silver. I got lucky right away with a 1964 half. Then I got 4 40% silver halves in one roll. Then a red seal two dollar bill from 1953. Then the silver dried up. But my luck did not!

I bought a box of nickels to look through at home. I found a 1989-S proof, a 1925 buffalo, two war nickels (a 42-P and a pretty nice 45-S) and an 1894 Liberty nickel --- A SEMI-KEY --- in problem-free G/VG condition! It's not worth all that much but it is a SWEET find in circulation, especially 119 years after it was made.

Are nickels such as that easily found? The war and buffalo....

    Zach,

I expect one or more war nickels in every $100 box. Most times I get one. Sometimes two. Best box had 8. Buffalo nickels I find just a little less often. Maybe one every two boxes. I have only found 4 or 5 Liberty nickels all year.
