    AE Reduced? Tetradrachm 20 mm x 5.64 grams
    Obverse: Bust of Hermaios Blundered Greek-BASILEWS SOTHPWS EPMAIOY
    Reverse: Hercules Standing with club holding Lion skin Kharoshti -KUJULA KASASA KUSHANA YAVUGASA DHRAMSTHIDASA
    Ref: According to COIN INDIA Virtual Museum, unpublished?

    Check it out. I suppose this is a pretty good example of the coin IMHO.

    Great coin, but you're posting huge images these days, AN. Takes a long time to load. We don't really need to see the bacteria on the coin. ;)

    And to keep it numismatic, here's my sole sad little Kushan for which I paid way too much. A surprise find at a local shop, so we'll call the overpayment 'supporting the failing local economy'.

    => yup, it looks like we may have another nominee for the title of Miss Kushan?!

    I have never been clear on the relationship between Baktrian Hermaios and the Kushans. There are even barbarous intermediates that also confuse me. Where do these coins fall?
    The first coin has residual silver (a fourree).

    I am not sure about "first Kushan". Was this the first coin struck after the Kushan tribe took over? Remember that is was collectively the Yueh Chi who invaded Bactria. Only later did the Kushan tribe take power over the other 4 tribes and the Yueh Chi become known as Kushan.
