its sulposed to be au the toned area looks cool in hand. it also has a lot of luster which none of my other 1905 vf-au have. This coin was pretty hard to get images of for some reason scanned camera
in the picture above the light colored lines/marks on the one side are luster. this picture is to show light reflecting.
what makes you think cleaned? also the marks in the fields are from the camera the fields are actualy clear besides the ding
I agree that this coin was cleaned. In the condition (VF), you would not be able to see luster. Also, in VF condition, you should see a smooth chocolate brown color. You really only get natural colors in AU/UNC grades for Indian head cents. To me it looks like someone removed some environmental damage around the devices on the obverse.
its all the same one lol you guys have good eyes I just got this yester and didnt have time to look at it under my loop there are cleaning scratchess on the high points. I had a feeling it had been polished. The high points have a wet like luster the same ive seen on some 1800s british pennys. i assume thats the polish. I have to dissaggree on the grade tho. comparing in hand to my other 1905 that was graded by guys puts this one around xf with full liberty and some diamonds as well. I wish it was better i was looking foward to making the first page in my 20/21st album have every single coin showing luster. But i guess ill keep looking. (all Ineed for my first page to be all luster is the ihc the 1883 no cent v nickle and the barber dime)
It looks like an F-12 grade based on the pictures. My reasoning is there are no diamonds on the bottom of the headband. Horribly cleaned though.
When you take a picture of any metal object, use indirect light, and the object will not be obscured by the light's glare. You lose too much detail, when it's that way. It's hard to see the details, of any object. Think, of how you view any coin or stone with a loop eye piece. Do you not turn the object to see to a clear view of it?
If you take a look at PCGS photo grade or any slabbed XF Indian cent on eBay, you'll see that your coin wouldn't qualify as an XF. Don't get me (or the others) wrong, but that coin is not as good as you think. If you like it, perfect, that's more important than the actual grade.
