i told him to look at the lettering united states of america on that coin then look at a real one then he will see what i mean

did it too with my 100% good feeback account of this name.

i consider the risk worth it

hey susan that seller has had his auctions dumped and hes now put up some other fakes

 

i hope his naughty bits fall off!

 

our friend now has made his auctions private.

i do not understand his reason noted but it sure aint what he says lol.

This auction is private because of emails being sent to the winning buyer wanting to buy the coin from the high bidder, and this is against eBay policy. This is to protect the buyer from any problems from other eBay members.

According to the email that I received from the seller last night, they're real. The answer he sent me was very short, just "not fake" no signature, greeting, etc.
I just reported all three of the auctions to eBay - once under the counterfeit category and once as an unidentified problem with a seller. I have found that reporting using both of these methods often gets action. We can only hope.

i reported him yesterday to ebay and it seems they removed his auctions, Then hes put other ones up.

i dont think the fellow is very bright either that or too greedy to be subtle.

if i was gonna scam i would show bad pictures and sell only one at a time.

i have made a scam busting account and its gonna get used.Im gonna email him with it and ask how much he would take for them and to put a buy now price

then i will buy and promise him a cheque ect for a while to string him along.


by the way watch his other coins go up just after it

Ebay didn't end his auctions, he did. When eBay pulls an auction, it comes up as "invalid item". After getting the emails yesterday, it seems he ended the auctions he was running and restarted them as private for only 1 day (obviously in the hopes of not getting caught). Often scammers can get away with a lot running 1 day auctions because, by the time eBay gets around to addressing the problem, the auction has ended. The coins that are running today are the same ones he was running yesterday. I had saved all of his auctions in my Auction Sentry program so that I could monitor them. The auctions I reported this morning were new ones. It may take a little time, but we'll get him off eBay. Sometimes it just takes a little patience. Using your new ID to bid the coins up well beyond what they would be worth if they were real will keep anyone from being able to purchase them. Just keep in mind that after 3 NPB's, eBay will kick you off (and then you'll have to come up with another ID)

 

Jimmy, I kinda agree with Satootoko. I also dont think it is worth the effort. Scams will always be around and the only cure is education. I would inform and show this to all your friends and associates so they can also pass it on as knowledge. Some folks will never learn so unfortuanately for them they will get burned. For all you know if you inform the potential bidders, they may think you are trying to convince them not to bid because you want it for yourself. No matter what is put out about being careful when using internet auction and no matter how many "buyer beware" warnings are floating out there in cyberspace, some just wont listen. OK, thats my 2 cents.

 

i think direct action is better soon these people realise they wont make any money from it and stop

scam busters on ebay have been working on mobile phone scams for a while now and from there category and intrest they have been quite succesfull in eradicating most scams and as soon as there put up there in there ruining the auctions.

when no money is to be made the scammers will have to move on to something else.

the coin community on ebay is actually quite small you see the same people again and again,any one new that comes in and starts selling high value items the ears perk up till there trusted.I can only speak for ulk on this as thats the market i buy and sell in

Sometimes it's hard to remember that there are decent coin dealers on eBay (sigh)

If you mean the refusal to ship outside the UK, what rule is that, and when was it adopted? Because of customs restrictions and problems of obtaining insurance there are many, many sellers who limit the destinations they will ship to. The last time I listed, the listing form even provided a specific place to indicate where I would ship to.

 

The illegality does not lie in where it will be shipped but in the fact that it's a raffle ticket and not actually for the item pictured. I believe that eBay is very specific that the item in the auction must be the item the winner gets. I don't think you can sell "chances" to win the item in the auction.

 

the coin is only worth 32-35 pounds as well
