Hey guys, I'm eyeballing this large cent. It's graded as an MS-63 RB, anyone see any major flaws?

I know the pics are bad, it was extremely washed out and I tried to enhance a little. Looks alright to me and surely will look better in hand, I just want to know if anyone spots anything really 'off' about it.

So it's not gonna be that orange in hand. Did that help any? Or still off?

Not possible to grade it from those images as you said.
    Who graded it a 63?

    ANACS, old whitey.

It does come with a 14 day return as per the norm.

I would trust ANACS to be within a point or so.

This is what I'm seeing on this coin at least the good things anyway.

I see nice detail on the hair, you can easily see all of the curls. The center of the stars look decent and well struck. Liberty is nice and full and the wreath on the back looks pretty good too.

I think the surface looks ok, no major hairlines or anything like that. I think the pixilation and the haziness is just from the lighting. I suspect its an original coin or dipped years ago. The little bit of toning and RB designation is making me lean that way.

Any of that assessment way off base?

The old white small ANACS graded pretty closely to what PCGS and NGC do today . It certainly in the 63 range if the color is all right .

There is no way to give a reasonable opinion with pics that bad.

Buying such a coin from those pics is a gamble, plain and simple. No way would I do it.

What's the gamble in your mind?

It IS graded by a reputable TPG, there's a 14 day return policy, and aside from the color and the haze due to the photo, you can't really see anything else wrong with it. At the very least its a 'safe' gamble and I'm hoping it will look better in hand, if not, she can always go back. I think it's worth the effort and should turn out to be a nice coin.
