The auction house did not mention the CC so I happened to pick it out. I paid about £80 hammer which I think is a steal for this date/mm. Probably cleaned. Let me know if members think it might be worth getting slabbed and which TPG given the condition/appearance.

I'm no morgan expert, but for some reason the details look off to me...the face on the obverse and the eagle's face on the reverse look weird, and the details are a bit mushy...hopefully an expert will chime in.

Why does it look so shiny and the details so mushy?

It's real just improperly cleaned. Still worth $100 all day long IMO.

Would it make sense to check the weight or are the counterfeits made out of silver as well nowadays?

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

In your image, the eagle's head and breast look as smooth as a schoolmarm's leg, as they used to say. Is there any detail at all?

Also, the "O" of "OF" is over the "US" of "TRUST". The best illustration I can find online shows the O over the "ST" of "TRUST".

Can't tell from the photographs as they are not detailed enough to determine real vs fake, but unquestionably polished. Not worth buying.
