I have a friend who is one of the leading experts on Heraldic Art Medals. I am photographing his collection in high res for his website. If you don't know what they are check out this website. http://www.heraldicartmedallions.com/index.html

He gave me permission to post pictures of these original dies.

I also have a lot of original die trials to photograph as well. I'll make sure to share.

Thanks for the link to that site Matt, and thanks for posting the pics of those dies.

Now where the devil is Chris (cpm9ball)? He must be sleeping in today.......:)

Matt, are those dies that your friend made, or did he acquire them?

He acquired them from McNamara's estate I believe.

    Thanks, buddy!

I took a look at the website in progress, and I assume that the silver medals are all his work. I was particularly curious about the "Santa Fe Trail", but I like this one better. No offense intended.

    Chris

NOTE: Correction! The medal below celebrates the founding of Santa Fe with the Santa Fe Trail shown on it.

Whatever happened to this project? The images on the website still leave much to be desired. I love that website for all of the history and scanned documents, but it would be so much nicer with full obverse and reverse high quality images.

I imaged over 300 pieces for his site. He has them... but hasn't done anything with them yet.

    Nice stuff.

I have a few dies that I should take pix of to show you.
    They weigh a lot.

Bummer. I love his site for the information -- but the place would be a gold mine if he'd post your high quality images. :)
