Looks like MD in my opinion.

can't be an MD, thats a loose die, and if the obverse was MD all would be doubled, same for reverse, lets see who shows up, thanks non cents always good to see you, I learned about the MD, and what causes it from John Wexler, and yes, the 72 was a loose die, once tighten, problem solved ;)

MD is a lot more than a loose die. there are numerous cases of MD other than a loose die. how about ejection doubling , die detoration , die bounce , plate shift doubling and all the other forms of MD. they are all included in one group and called mechanical doubling.

Well, that's not entirely correct. The entire obverse does NOT need to be doubled if it is MD. Mechanical doubling (caused by a loose die) can be isolated to certain parts of a coin, and is not always present on an entire face of a coin. The coin you posted shows doubling that is flat and shelf-like. It is definitely not a doubled die...

Thanks for mentioning what else a loose die can-do, but thats is a lot easiers to say, so people understand what causes MD, I think you should say what caused the error in the first place first, then people will understand a little more, thats all, off to the baseball game, go tigers

How about using the term MDD (Machine Damage Doubling)...that cover most everthing. It definatly isn't from a Doubled Die.

That person is well-known on another forum as someone that will post a coin asking if it is a doubled die, and no matter the response, will always list it on ebay as such, even if it isn't a doubled die.

you got that right , these have been selling on Ebay for quite a while. folks are just throwing their money down the drain
non cents the scary thig about this ebay seller is the fact that they don't know anything about coins and are trying to sell them. I believe this seller is one of them that thinks the coin is what is called the die . this is why some new collectors sees something different about a coin and it is automatically a doubled die in their mind.
