I couldn't pass on this coin, just curious to whats on it? I'm thinking XF/AU.. XF because of the rub spots but in hand the luster is great
If you do see nice remaining luster, i'm leaning towards AU-50. Unless of course that is env. damage.
No way AU, possibly XF, looks like gunk, so, acetone may help why XF? Look at the LIBERTY, there should be a mine under the legend, the 1916 D's were well struck, and this one is either mushy [weak strike] or too much rub
I actually must agree with you. Though "LIBERTY" is not the main factor in determining a barber's grade, the coils of hair beneath liberty, wing tips, and star detail are worn to the point of XF. Good catch.
As you said, the LIBERTY is important, but the rest of the coin must be looked at. That is why I said possibly. there is nothing as good as seeing a coin "in hand".
