    are the 1953 rarer that 63? ive found several '53s but only 2 '63s so far. also 4 '28s (all in horrible condition) i thought '63 was the rarest

    Well, in terms of issue numbers, fewer 1963/A notes were printed, a total of 19,900,000 notes total between the two issues. The 1953/A/B/C totalled over 80,000,000. That being said, in my experience, the '63 notes pop up more often in circulation and in small collections, probably due to the BEP destruction of many of the 1953 issues.
    So, in a way, you are correct. They did print more 1953 series notes. It's just a matter of what is more easily encountered.
